LEVEL A · ESTABLISHED SOURCE INSTRUMENT

Emotional Intelligence Components Test — IPIP

The source instrument has published or official measurement support. This label does not imply that Inward Atlas has created independent norms or validated this particular online administration.

CONSTRUCT

What it measures

A 68-item public-domain IPIP inventory covering seven self-reported emotional and social components: expression, attention, emotion-guided decisions, emotional responsiveness, and empathic concern.

FORMAT

What you complete

68 scored items across 7 displayed dimensions

SCORING

How the score is made

Declared Likert items are summed after reverse-keying where specified, then transformed to a 0–100 display scale. The display is a response score, not a population percentile, unless an official lookup conversion is explicitly named.

RELIABILITY

Consistency evidence

No reliability coefficient has been estimated from Inward Atlas users for this online administration. Where a source link is provided, consult it for evidence about the original instrument or source scale.

VALIDITY

What the evidence supports

The source instrument has published or official measurement support. This label does not imply that Inward Atlas has created independent norms or validated this particular online administration. Interpretations are limited to the constructs and cautions stated on this page; clinical, hiring, diagnostic, and predictive uses are outside scope.

NORMS

How values should be read

No representative Inward Atlas norm sample is applied. Displayed 0–100 values are transformed response scores, not percentile ranks or claims about comparison with a population.

Source and implementation record

Inward Atlas preserves the published 68 retained IPIP items and key directions across seven scales. The IPIP reliability table reports alpha estimates for each component and cautions that these self-report measures should be regarded as personality-style measures rather than maximum-performance tests of intelligence.

Limitations shown with the assessment

  • This is a self-report profile of seven emotional/social components, not a maximum-performance intelligence test and not a clinical assessment.
  • Inward Atlas does not compute a universal EQ score from these seven scales because the source inventory presents them as separate components.
  • Higher is not automatically better for every component; for example, stronger negative expressivity, responsive distress, or emotion-based decision-making can have context-dependent costs and benefits.
  • The 0–100 values are transformed response scores, not population percentiles.

Implementation notes

  • Retained scale sizes total 68 items: 9 + 10 + 10 + 9 + 10 + 10 + 10.
  • No single total EQ score is part of the published seven-component key and Inward Atlas does not create one.
